We design and manufacture high-performance vector network analyzers for professionals, researchers, and enthusiasts worldwide. Our mission is to make precision RF measurement accessible and portable.
From a small workshop to a global RF measurement solutions provider.
Everything started as a hobby, you could say almost as an accident, as a passion project between two friends. "While working on a project in Poland, I teamed up with my work partner in Italy" - CTO mRS Instruments. This was an era before modern remote collaboration where we designed our first circuits using NetMeeting and old 286 PCs.
The goal was simple: build a frequency generator controlled by a computer. That first prototype, which was built with hobbyist tools like an old HP spectrum analyzer, was the spark that started it all.
In 2004, we officially founded the company under the name miniRadioSolutions. We had moved from simple oscillators to our first true analyzer. Since USB wasn't common yet, it connected via the printer's parallel port.
We took 30 units to an exposition in Germany, renting a small table in the "used gear" section. To our surprise, we sold every single unit in just two days. That weekend changed everything as we met our first global distributor and realized that our "hobby" had the potential to solve real world problems for engineers worldwide.
After struggles related to manufacturing, we refined our process and developed a new product called the miniVNA Pro. Inspired by the global ham radio community, this was our third hardware iteration and our first big breakthrough.
It featured a high dynamic range and, for the first time, stable phase measurement. It wasn't just a tool; it was a professional-grade instrument that fit in the palm of your hand.
We wanted to push the boundaries of what portable RF equipment could do. In 2014, we launched the miniVNA Tiny. It covered a frequency range up to 3 GHz which was ten times the range of the Pro.
It was a massive success, reaching 1,000 units sold per year and proving that you didn't need a massive benchtop setup to get precision results in the field.
As technology evolved, so did we. We launched the miniVNA Pro2, integrating modern wireless standards like Bluetooth. This ensured our users could stay mobile and connected, maintaining the high-fidelity measurements they trusted while adapting to modern, wire-free workflows.
While we expanded and grew further in the industrial and professional measurement space, we officially renamed the company to MRS Instruments in 2020. This change was fueled by the idea of not sticking to what we knew best, which was providing hand-held solutions to hobbyists and radio amateurs, but rather supplying both markets while focusing more on industrial scale expansion.
Today, mRS Instruments has evolved from its hobbyist roots and branched out into a specialized partner for industrial-scale engineering. We have expanded our focus toward custom solutions, providing custom-built hardware for various applications like hydrocarbon measurement in oil extraction and precision moisture analysis for agriculture.
Our technology is now trusted by global industrial leaders like Amphenol and others, as well as research universities. We are currently pushing the boundaries of what a VNA can do through a partnership with a US-based firm. Together, we are integrating our hardware into remote, web-based ecosystems and deploying Artificial Intelligence to automate data evaluation and provide smarter, faster insights for our clients.
